as panthro said, 800 will get you an damn good tower. I paid about $450 about 3 months ago, picked up a AMD Phenom 965 Black Edition CPU, DDR3 ram (4gb), Gigabyte USB 3 mobo etc... PC flies atm (Crysis 2 at max resolution).

Happy to help out looking at gear, need to decide Intel vs AMD, Intel is a safe bet, but I don't think its value for money. AMD will give much better bang for buck IMO.

Umart is one of the best on the east cost (I think they ship?) best prices - http://www.umart.com.au
MSY is another one, although a little hard to buy from cause their website is crap - http://www.msy.com.au
PC Case Gear is a well known one, excellent gear and will ship anywhere, but can be a little pricey - http://www.pccasegear.com/

Just did a quick shop on Umart:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHZ Black Edition Instock $169.00
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD890GX 4DDR3 2PCIE2.0 RAID GLAN 3FW SATA3 USB3 ATX Instock $179.00
Antec One Hundred Tower Gaming Case- Black NO PSU Instock $65.00
Antec ATX EarthWatts 650W Instock $99.00
Gigabyte HD5770 1G GDDR5 PCIE2.0 DVI HDMI DX11 R577UD-1GD Instock $139.00
G Skill 4G(2x2G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 RL 9-9-9-24(CL9D-4GBRL) Instock $52.00
Western Digital 1TB SATA3 64M(WD1002FAEX) Instock $95.00
Subtotal: $798

Optional:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply) Instock $103.00

So total without Win7 is $798, with Windows its $901, plenty of room to move on those parts though, that would get you a pretty nice machine IMO (I run all the above minus the case and PSU). Doesn't come with an aftermarket CPU cooler, but should be fine with the stock one if you don't go overclocking crazy :)/>
